This gives the pieces a three dimensional effect.  You can see a video of his process here. Found via Spoon & Tomago. It’s hard to comprehend how he goes about this until you watch the video. He reminds me vaguely of Korzer-Robinson, being they both have an interesting if lengthy method to their work. However, Fukahori’s art is more realistic than magical, which, after seeing the process, ironically grants it a magical quality.
